Leroy Owen, 94, passed away peacefully in his
home near Bonners Ferry August 28, 2012.
Memorial services were held Sunday, September
16, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in
Bonners Ferry with Pastor Larry Kirkpatrick
officiating. A private inurnment will be at the
Grandview Cemetery. Max was born on September 29, 1917, in Lubbock, Texas, to Loza H. and Mable (Townsend) Owen. He lived in Oklahoma, Texas California and Idaho. Max worked for the shipyard in Richmond, California during WWII. He attended college in Lubbock and had a degree in teaching and a masters in business. Max worked as a telegraph operator for Southern Pacific Rail Road. Max moved with his wife Wilma to Bonners Ferry, where he taught at Naples school and later at the SDA school. Max was a very active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents Loza H. and Mable Owen, wife Wilma Owen, sister in law Polly Johnson and Neva Lomax. He is survived by his brother in law Jakie F. Cassatt of Bonners Ferry, nieces Lynda Blumberg of Spokane, Mary Medeiros of Houston, Texas, and Sherlyn Jacobs of Sacramento, California as well as several great nieces and nephews. Max was also blessed with his only living Cousin Gary Owen of Michland, Texas.
