My dear husband, our dad and grandpa, Glen Myron Peaster was born to Joseph and Susie Becker Peaster on June 12, 1923, in Montezuma, Kansas. Dad grew up in western Kansas in the "dirty thirties." With his mother being an invalid, his childhood was not easy. Dad often expressed his appreciation of those that touched his life in this time.

Dad accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in 1939 at the age of 16. His faith was very precious to him.

Dad, together with his parents and four brothers, moved to Winton, California, in 1941. He worked on the Arkalien Ranch and farmed sweet potatoes.

Dad married our mother, Ethel Dirks, on April 16, 1944, in Bonners Ferry. They lived in Winton and Bonners Ferry until settling in Bonners Ferry in 1954.

They enjoyed 68 years of joys and sorrows together. The loss of their son, Lavern, in a tragic accident in 1964, was a very difficult time for Dad and Mom.

Dad lived his life with enthusiasm and vibrancy. He never met a stranger. He loved his Savior, his family, and his fellow travelers, and upon meeting someone he often asked, "Do you love the Lord?" Dad and Mom's home was open to all. Often unexpected guests graced their table. Our parent's mission here seemed to be providing a home for many young people.

We as a family treasure dads devotions to his prayers and love of singing. In his prayers he often expressed his thankfulness that God brought him from darkness to the marvelous light! Dad loved to go to church and it was important to be on time.

Dad was employed at the sawmill and feed store before starting his dairy. He enjoyed his chosen occupation, and also his hobby of raising chickens. A good game of horseshoes with friends and family was a good way to end a day.

Left to cherish precious memories are his loving wife Ethel, daughters Barbara and Bill Mastre, Bruneau, Idaho, Laura, Bonners Ferry, Aldonna and Les Isaac, Bruneau, Idaho, Louetta and Robert Koehn, Connell, Washington, Doreen and Kurt Wedel, Liberty, Kentucky, Glenette and Kevin Becker, Princeton, Idaho, son Ron and Jonnlyn Peaster, Bonners Ferry; 26 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Also surviving are sister Dorothy Bolcoa; brothers Raymond and wife Arlene, Leonard and wife Darlene, Homer and wife Velda; and sister-in-law Christina all of California.

Also our mother's family; Dessie and Leonard Regehr, Buhl, Idaho, Ernie and JoAnn Dirks, Joanne and Bob Mastre, Larry and Judy Dirks, Dennis and Donna Dirks and Darlene and Willie Peachey, all of Bonners Ferry, and Bob and Michelle Dirks, Grand View, Idaho.
