Jon
Jeffrey Plum was born to Donna and Charles Plum
on July 28, 1956, in Coeur d’Alene, and died of
a heart attack on January 2, 2012, while at home
in Hayden. He grew up as the only son in a family of eight and lived primarily in Bonners Ferry before moving back to Coeur d’Alene in 1974, where he graduated from high school. Jon attended NIC and earned his associates degree then went to work for Miller Stauffer Architects before moving on to JUB Engineers, Inc. He worked at JUB as the Computer Design Team Leader for twenty years until his recent death. Jon reported to both Paul Klatt and Steve James who shared these thoughts, “…Jon placed more value on honesty, integrity, true friendship, and support than almost anyone we will ever know….We’re all better people for having Jon in our lives.” Jon and his wife, Jenifer, had two children, Sarah, now eighteen and Jonny, thirteen, who were joined by Jenifer’s daughters Kylee, Koree, and Andee. His greatest love was his family and he was so very proud of his childrens’ many accomplishments. Jon was an outstanding athlete and an avid sports fan throughout his life. For the past five years or more Jon had an absolute passion for coaching, not only Jonny and Sarah, but for countless other kids as well. Jon loved the simple things in life: Jenifer’s excellent cooking, a lakeside BBQ, the Mariners, spending time with his kids and also with his family in Bonners. Jon is survived by his wife Jenifer, his children Jonny and Sarah, his stepdaughters Kylee Garitone (Jared) and their sons, Ethan and Austin, Koree Calkins (Casey), Andee Farley (Von Sandau) along with their daughter, Hadley, his mother, Donna Plum, his sisters, Valerie Clay, Anita Foust (Tom), Nancy Plum and Judy Wages (Theron). Jon was a wonderful person with a dry wit and a great sense of humor. Words cannot express how much he will be missed not only for his humor and thoughtfulness, but also because he was an amazing father, son, brother and husband. Jon died the way he lived, with a loving spirit and a generous heart. As an organ donor, Jon was able to greatly improve the lives of about thirty people upon his death - it was his final act of kindness. Jon was an incredible role model for so many, a man who could always be counted on to show up with a helping hand and a smile whenever someone was in need. A scholarship fund has been established for his children, Sarah and Jonny Plum. Donations can be made at any Numerica Credit Union location. There will be a private graveside service at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 14, in the morning, and an informal gathering for friends and family from noon to 3 p.m. in the commons area at Coeurd’ Alene High School, 5530 North Fourth Street, Coeur d’Alene. |
