Vernon Arthur Burdick, 67, of Bonners Ferry, passed away on April 21, 2011.

Kay Burdick and family wish to invite Vern’s friends to a celebration of his life. Please join us at The Great Northwest Territories Event Center, Highway 95 milepost 498, one mile east on Meadow Mountains Road at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 11, to share your memories.

Vern was born in Vancouver, Washington, raised in Dalton, Nebraska, and lived in California before moving to Bonners Ferry in 1973. He quickly became a part of the community. Vern worked at D&P Motors and tried his hand at logging.

A career involving Vern, falling trees, and chainsaws was not destined to last, and in 1980 he started his own collision repair business. When he married Kay in 1982, they began their journey together as friends, co-workers, and life partners. They created a happy family, successful business, and beautiful home together. Vern enjoyed the many recreational opportunities in North Idaho including boating, hunting, and snowmobiling. He approached everything with a positive attitude and always found the maximum amount of joy in what he did. Any outing was successful whether or not he came home with an elk, or whether the snowmobile came home in one piece or many.

Vern shared his positive approach to life with his friends and family with grace and a great sense of humor. He was an excellent leader without worrying about titles or accolades. He took pleasure in teaching and sharing life lessons. He was respected because he respected others. Vern touched the lives of many people, and we are all more fortunate for having known him.
