Frieda Irene Bolinger Grove left us to join her beloved God on March 20, 2011. She was 82 years old. Services will be held Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the Springs of living Water Free Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.

Frieda was born at home in Redfield, Kansas, in 1928. Life was full of joy among her 31 cousins. Frieda's younger sister, Doris, and their parents, Paul and Alma Bolinger, moved in 1939 to the Boise Valley area of Idaho. She went through her school years at Central Park School and Middleton High School. She met and married Glen Grove in 1945. This makes 65 years together.

Frieda and Glen started their lives together in the Boise Valley. They lived next door to his parents and worked with them in the farming operation. In 1950 Frieda and Glen moved to Boundary County with three children to their dairy farm on the Westside Road. They spent the next 20 years building to a herd of 60 milk cows. Now with four children, Frieda and Glen faced each day with an attitude of "yes we can."

In 1956, Glen was injured and spent months recovering. Roy Grove and Lloyd Nowland kept the cows milked. The neighbors joined together in the spring to move out the accumulated manure pile. Frieda appreciated this kindness deeply and spent her life "paying it forward."

In 1970, Frieda and Glen sold their dairy farm and moved a few miles up to Pleasant Valley. They did dry land farming and raised beef cattle. The hay crop put food on the table.

They were one of the first to have a self-propelled bale wagon to pick up those eighty pound hay bales and transport them to a stack in the barn. Quilting became a passion and pastime for Frieda. Most everyone she knew ended up with a patchwork quilt. Every color was beautiful to her. Quilted handprints added a very personal touch. Frieda bonded with friends over many quilt making sessions in her home.

God was important to Frieda. She made sure the family was exposed to God's message of love and forgiveness. The church environment gave her comfort, guidance and social activity.

She leaves behind her husband Glen Grove, children Alice (George) Uriona, Claud (Debbie) Grove, Bonnie (Mike Stephens), and Donald (Linda) Grove. Several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Paul Bolinger (1990), Alma Bolinger (2002), her sister Doris Pauline (1970), and grandchildren Larry Don (1992), and Justin Stephens (2002).

Family and friends are invited to sign Frieda's book at www.bonnersferryfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Bonners Ferry Funeral Home.
