Dick had spent 16 happy years in the Restorium in Bonners Ferry until relocating to Valley Vista February 11 of this year.
Dick was born January 16, 1917 in Alexandria, Virginia, one of seven children. He took pride in being a descendent of George Washington's brother. After graduation from Episcopal High School in Alexandria he attended Radio and Electronics School in Washington, D.C. He then began law school but entered the Navy before finishing.
He spent his post-war career as a technician on simulators with airlines, retiring after 20 years with United in Denver. He enjoyed sharing memories of his Navy days, serving from 1941-1945.
While in the Navy he married Mildred Marshall and had two children, Richard Washington III and Rilla Marshall. Following his divorce, he married Louise Sanders Sandstead in Denver, Colorado, in 1975. They moved together to the Restorium in August 1995.
He is survived by his
children, step-daughter Judy Dirks and husband
Larry of Bonners Ferry, one grandson, Cedric,
and seven step-grandchildren and numerous
great-grandchildren. Services may be held at a
later date. |
