Stage and microphone provided for aspiring local performers

The Pearl Theater located on Ash Street in Bonners Ferry has always supported and given the opportunity for new talent, young and old, to take the stage and share their talent with the community.

This year the Pearl was able to secure some grant money for that very purpose and 2016 is the push for getting all shower singers, story tellers, comedians, and local bands to show their stuff. If you sing, play piano, guitar, saxophone, harmonica, or just do poetry this is the show for you.

Locally we have a wonderful event on the first Thursday of each month called the Open Mic which is hosted by Quarter Moon, a successful local working group with CD’s recorded and selling on Amazon.com and other places.

The evening starts with Quarter Moon talking and playing for about 30 minutes or so just to warm things up. Then the fun starts with the new talent.

As artists arrive they sign in on the music signup sheet and take the stage in that order. Stage lights front and back, microphones and PA system, hookups for MP3 players, and instrument amplifiers are all provided with Quarter Moon’s Sound Technician running the boards. If you ask nice you can even use the drums, a very nice large electronic kit.

The audience is generally made up of many musicians and friends who support each act. Nowhere is the applause better or louder and everybody feels super comfortable and always asked to please return. It is a safe place for the entire family and a place where you will feel comfortable.

Food and drink is available at the Pearl Café and Nora can really cook up some wonderful dinners at a reasonable price.

All this entertainment is free, no charge, just show up. Donations are accepted to help maintain the Pearl and keep the lights on.

By far the best entertainment value in North Idaho, the Open Mic at the Pearl is considered the best Open Mic anywhere and our talent just keeps getting better.

Come join us the first Thursday each month with the doors opening at 6:00 p.m. and the music starting at 7:00 p.m. Come for the entertainment, come for the community, but certainly come to the Open Mic to support our Aspiring New Talent in North Idaho.
