To honor victims of Paris attacks, President requests flags
be flown at half staff
November 16, 2015
President Barack Obama on Sunday issued a proclamation that the flag of the United States be flown at half staff throughout the nation this Thursday, November 19, through the day until sunset "as a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on November 13, 2015, in Paris, France."

"The American people stand with the people of France," said the President in the proclamation. "Friday's terror attacks were not just an attack on Paris; they were an attack on all humanity and the universal values we share, including the bonds of liberté, égalité, and fraternité."
