Correction on articles about renovating the Paradise Valley Church:  one photograph was in error
June 26, 2015
NewsBF recently published a couple of articles on the project to renovate and restore the White Church building at Paradise Valley. In writing those articles, we thought it would be great for our readers to see how the building looked in years past.

The Boundary County Museum was extremely helpful in searching out and providing photographs of the Paradise Valley Church, which we used in both articles. One of those photographs showed a church bell on top of the building.

Within several days of publication of those articles, we received letters from a couple of readers who stated they felt that one of those old photographs, the one showing a bell on top of the building, was not actually the Paradise Valley Church, and was instead some other church.

We checked with the Museum, and it was determined that our readers were right, the building shown with the bell was not the Paradise Valley Church building. The other photograph was a correct picture of the Paradise Valley Church.

Both of our articles on the renovation project have now been corrected, and the photographs of the wrong building have been removed.

Our two articles (now corrected) can be seen by following these links:

April 28, 2015: Little white church at Paradise Valley to be renovated

June 14, 2015: Paradise Valley Church renovation project progressing

Sue Kemmis, Museum Curator, says: "This is a good example of our needing help identifying and labeling photos. Let your readers know we need volunteers to help identify and enter data into the Museum Collection database."

NewsBF regrets this error, but we fully support the renovation project of the Paradise Valley Church, and the Boundary County Museum's efforts to preserve old photographs from our area and to formulate an accurate database of those photographs.
