Winter storm warning issued for northwest Montana | |
February 16, 2018 | |
Expect snow through this evening, increasing in intensity Saturday through Sunday, with eight to 12 inches expected, pushed by winds gusting to 40 miles per hour. Wind chills will drop to as low as 20 below zero. Travel will be extremely difficult due to slick roads and sudden reductions in visibility, and the risk of breaking down or getting stuck will be greatly exacerbated by the cold; exposed skin can freeze in as little as 30 minutes. Road conditions are expected to be treacherous oh Highway 2 from Libby to Kalispell, on Bull Lake Road, on Highway 37 between Libby and Eureka and on Highway 93 between Eureka and Whitefish. Travel is not advised. In addition to difficult travel, the combination of snow and wind is likely to bring down trees, blocking roads and causing power outages. |
