Yoder's celebrating grand opening

Verna Yoder, Wendy Hawks, Henry Yoder, Dennis Weed and Patty Solt gathered in the front door of the new Yoder's Market on Highway 95 at Three Mile this morning for the Grand Opening ribbon cutting.

It's not the prettiest day out today but you wouldn't know that judging by all the smiling faces at today's grand opening at Yoder's Market on the west side of Highway 95 off Plato Lane. While the doors opened January 16 in Henry and Verna Yoder's quaint new store, today marks the official ribbon cutting, and the fun and savings lasts until 7 p.m. There is live music by Thad and Rebecca Huseby from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and you can sample from 45 varieties of cheese stretched out on 16-feet of table, and enjoy a homemade brownie with a scoop of ice cream If you can tell them where to cut a block of Swiss cheese si it comes to within two ounces of the weight you want, your chunk of cheese is free, and there are prize giveaways, a duck pond from which you can pick a rubber duck and marked on the bottom with discounts from five to 100-percent and more. Yoder's Market is a true Bonners Ferry success story, having started out in a former convenience store on the South Hill as a "seconds" store, selling good product in packaging that was a little dinged, dented, worn or torn, along with fresh produce grown in the area. They outgrew that shop and moved into a bigger space in what started out as an electric wholesale/retail shop, also on the South Hill, but when they began outgrowing that, Henry and Verna began looking around and realized there were no more buildings available suitable to accommodate Yoder's Market. So working with the Boundary Economic Development Council and specialist Dennis Weed, they set about building a brand new Yoder's Market, one tat should keep up with their growth for years to come. "We're really grateful to be here, and thankful to be part of such a wonderful community," Henry said.
