The latest on the NewsBF website . . .

May 1, 2014
Thanks, Mike.

Mike Weland came to Bonners Ferry over 20 years ago. After having worked in
the newspaper business in other areas, he arrived here and employed his
skills with the Bonners Ferry Herald.

Turns out, he had a little more of an ambitious, entrepreneurial streak in
him. During his time here, he started up the Kootenai Valley Press, and
eventually, his well-known NewsBF website.

Mike's presence over the years at virtually all of the major events and
meetings in our county, armed with his camera and notepad, became a well-
known fixture in our area. He made a name for himself, and became known as
the go-to source for local news. Eventually just about everybody knew Mike.

In addition to his news work, in recent years he directed his time and
attention to areas of public service, serving for a while as county zoning
administrator, and later serving on our local school board. And he did this
while continuing to operate his news site.

Mike Weland is a genuinely good man who found a home in this community, and
cared about the community.

Mike and Debbie now are trying their hand at the Last Frontier, aiming to
spend time with family and grandchildren in Alaska.

Mike---thanks. Thanks for your contribution to Bonners Ferry and Boundary
County during your years here.

The folks at Boundary County Live have acquired the NewsBF website. We knew
this was a valuable community resource that we felt needed to continue, even
though the Weland's were moving on.

Many in the county are already familiar with us. We've had our website
around since 2009, presenting information and reports on Boundary County--
although we seem to be best known for presenting live video broadcasts of
BFHS sports to Badger fans around the nation and around the world.

Our goal is to offer the most timely, accurate, and complete source of news
and information about Boundary County. In combining our resources with
NewsBF, we like to think we can achieve that goal.

So give us a chance to get this up and running, and check in with our
websites from time to time. And if you have any news or information you
think should be shared, please let us know at publisher@newsbf.com
