Mail theft suspect caught

January 12, 2014
A woman who was arrested by Bonners Ferry Police Friday night has confessed to stealing mail from rural mail boxes in the Moyie Springs area, according to the sheriff's office.

The woman's name has not been released pending arraignment, and she remains in custody in the Boundary County Jail. The reason for her arrest has likewise not been revealed.

A sheriff's investigator said the confession, made Saturday, came as part of a cooperative investigation by both the sheriff's office and the Bonners Ferry Police Department.

On January 9, a Moyie Springs reported that mail thefts, targeting checks and W2 forms, had occurred in the Silver Spring area both January 4 and January 6.
