Grinch makes off with donation cans

A Grinch with a heart two sizes too small has attempted to thwart a community's holiday effort to help one of its own, but the community, in addition to being appalled, is not to be denied.

Case Navrot, 25, Wasilla, is a father with a newborn baby who is battling cancer, and concerned community members placed collection cans at several locations to help raise funds to offset medical expenses and help a family that has endured much.

Collection cans at the Valley Country Store, Little Millers and Extreme Tan were recently spirited away by a thief who remains at large.

If you have information or tips on the theft, please call Cynful Ink and Metal, (907) 982-9697, or Doghouse Tattoo, (907) 354-4355.

Meanwhile, organizers have turned to the Stop Valley Thieves page on Facebook, intent more on working to replace the lost donations than to catch the culprit, though seeing the Grinch get just reward for the crime would be heartening.

Since this article was published, a "virtual" donation can, one that the Grinch can't swipe, has been established. To help fill it, click here.
