Wasilla PD seeking reserve officers

December 4, 2013
The Wasilla Police Department is now acceping applications for their Reserve Unit. Applications will be accepted at the police department from December 9 until 5 p.m. Friday, December 20.

The Wasilla Police Department Reserve Officer Unit offers professional career development in law enforcement, the potential for personal growth, and an opportunity to protect and serve your community. Ethics, values, dedication, and integrity characterize police officers. They are a very select group of men and women with superior skills and attributes.

When evaluating candidates for Reserve Police Officers, the department examines the whole person to ascertain those with the greatest potential for success.

The Wasilla Police Department Reserve Unit was created with several goals in mind.

It is intended that the reserves, who are private citizens, will become familiar with the department’s needs and overall mission. Their acquired knowledge in these areas will be a source of information for others throughout the community.

The members will also have the personal satisfaction of public service in a field that is not generally understood by the average citizen. The mission of the Reserve Unit, like that of the Police Department, is public service and the protection of life and property.

Reserve Officers are a vital and important aspect in the overall operational efficiency of the Department. The reserves, while volunteers, are subject to the same standards, regulations, and procedures as any other sworn officer with the Wasilla Police Department.
