Seven submit candidacy petitions
February 29, 2012
As of Tuesday afternoon, seven Boundary County residents had submitted declaration of candidacy petitions to get their names on the local ballot as we head into Election 2012.

Both sitting county commissioners who are up for election this year; Ron Smith, District 1, and Dan Dinning, District 3, both Republicans, submitted their declaration petitions.

Five people submitted declarations seeking seats on party central committees, with only one seat on the Republican Central Committee thus far being challenged.

Incumbent Linda Alt, representing the Valley View precinct, will face a challenge from Rick Dodd.

Also on the Republican Central Committee, Terry Capurso will be on the ballot for the Moyie Springs precinct and Connie DeCoe-Munier will appear on the Naples precinct ballot.

Debbie Flory sumbitted her declaration to retain her position on the Democratic Central Committee, serving the Valley View precinct.

The deadline for candidates to file and appear on the Boundary County ballot is Friday, March 9. Those who wish to run as write-in candidates until Friday, March 30, to file so that their votes will be counted.

News Bonners Ferry is working to develop a Boundary County Voter's Guide, scheduled to go on-line Sunday, March 3, and we are seeking photos, contact information and candidate editorial statements for inclusion so that county voters have access to the information they need to make an informed decision, as well as advertising opportunities to reach voters and share their message.

Editorial material can be sent to News Bonners Ferry, P.O. Box 1062, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805, or emailed to publisher@newsbf.com. Inquiries regarding advertising opportunities should be addressed to Mike Ashby, 122 Maple St., Moyie Springs, ID 83845, or call (208) 267-5135.
