Logging truck overturns on Highway 2, traffic blocked

A logging truck, reportedly out of Kalispell, overturned on Highway 2 near milepost 499 at about 10:11 a.m. Traffic is expected to be blocked until well into the afternoon,.

11:30 a.m: A logging truck overturned on Highway 2 at about 10:11 a.m. today, spilling a load of logs across the highway and blocking traffic in both directions for what is expected to be several hours.

There were no injuries.

Currently, an Idaho State Police trooper is on the way to the scene from Coeur d'Alene to investigated the accident. The truck was heading west when it ran off the road overturned. Sheriffs deputies, Bonners Ferry Police, Boundary Volunteer Ambulance and Curley Creek Fire is currently on scene.

Drivers traveling in either direction on Highway 2 near the Montana state line should attempt to find an alternate route or find a place to stop and wait it out short of the accident scene, which is near milepost 79. According to a deputy on scene, it could be late afternoon before the roadway is cleared and traffic is moving again.
