Another busy week at the airport

August 18, 2011

Matthew Brakeman
It was another eventful week at the airport, and the staff at Northern Air is thrilled to announce three happy new pilots.

Matthew Brakeman of Bonners Ferry successfully completed his first solo flight on August 18.

Matthew is heading overseas at the end of September and is hoping to complete his pilot training before then.

Jeff Pederson, a recent resident of Bonners Ferry, passed his flight instructor with instrument rating (CFII) certification on August 16.

Jeff was formerly an air traffic controller in Oakland, California, and has retired here in beautiful Boundary County.

Michelle Spear of Sandpoint is our newest private pilot.

Michelle Spear and her dad, Michael
She completed her flight test on the evening of August 16 in her dad’s Cessna 172, just in time to head off to college for the year.

Come out to the airport on August 27 for a delicious Huckleberry Pancake Breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m.

The pancake breakfasts, held on the last Saturday of each month in the summer, are hosted by the local chapter of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) to raise money toward a scholarship for flight training.

Your donation of only $5 will help a local high school student start their dream of flight.

See you there!
