Five injured in head on collision

Five people were treated Friday, July 29, for injuries sustained in a head-on collision at the Cow Creek Y. Most of the injuries were minor.

According to the Boundary County Sheriffs Office, Tony Shope, 20, was driving down Cow Creek Road in a red 1988 Chevrolet pickup when he swung wide while coming up to the Y. He collided with a black 1989 Chevy Blazer driving by Shawna Patterson, 25, also of Bonners Ferry.

Kristin Mastre was riding as a passenger in the Shope vehicle, Brandon Hurst and a two-year-old child were passengers in the Patterson vehicle. All were transported to Boundary Community Hospital for treatment.

Shope was cited for reckless driving.
