Alonzo-Alt becomes an Airman

March 22, 2011
Air Force Airman Derrick-Alonzo Alt ... an airman in the making.
Derrick Alonzo-Alt, a 2010 graduate of Bonners Ferry High School, this week earned the right to the title of Air Force Airman, graduating near the top of his basic training class at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

A Bonners Ferry contingent left the breaking spring of Bonners Ferry for the 72-degrees and sunny temperatures of south Texas to watch him graduate. Derrick's grandparents, John and Linda Alt, and Derrick's Dad, Russ Alt, made the arduous trek to warmer climes and spent five days with the new airman.

In the 8 1/2 weeks before their arrival, Airman Alt served as element leader in his flight and earned the respect of his peers and instructors alike.
