Most often, your body is lacking minerals or other important nutrients. If you are craving sugar in particular here are a few ways that might help stop those uninvited sugar cravings. Sugar cravings are usually caused by a lack of minerals in the body. Our bodies need minerals to function properly. If minerals are low the body can adapt by increasing sugar levels. Most people process sugars and carbohydrates easier than using the minerals from their foods. So, if you have low minerals increasing your mineral levels may help reduce your sugar cravings. If your sugar cravings are out of control take your blood pressure. If your blood pressure is normally low (below 112/80) this can be a clue that your minerals are low. If you have low blood pressure one way to decrease your cravings may be to increase your unrefined salt intake. Yes, I said INCREASE YOUR UNREFINED SALT intake. We are led to believe that salt causes high blood pressure when in reality there are a lot of other underlying causes which lead to high blood pressure. Sea Salt contains minerals that the body needs. For those with low blood pressure, increasing your salt intake will give your body minerals and may aid in the digestion process. If you have low blood pressure reducing your water intake and increasing your mineral uptake is another step that can be taken to avoid those crazy cravings. Yes, I said reduce your water intake. I know I know we are all told to drink more water. And, most of us do need more water but if your body is already low in minerals drinking more water just flushes out the reserves in the body. Before upping your water intake qualify your body to drink more water by adding a drop or two of trace minerals to your drinking water. Remember, drinking less water is for those of you with low blood pressure or electrolyte deficient (again, this is why it is important to understand your bodies physiology….Flow System Auditing gives you the answers). Improving your digestion will help eliminate cravings. Contrary to popular belief, gas, bloating, burping, diarrhea, or constipation are not “normal” for your body. Go to my website at www.entirely-natural.com, click on “Services” and then Health Quiz. If you answer yes to any of these questions you will benefit greatly from help with digestion and/or understanding your biological identity through a Flow System Audit. Almost every nutritional deficiency stems from a lack of bile flow or a lack of stomach acid. Supplementing with digestive enzymes, hydrochloric acid, and beet flow will significantly help the digestive process. As a warning, however; do not supplement with hydrochloric acid without proper bile flow. For more information read Kick Your Fat in the Nuts by T.C. Hale or send me an email. Adding healthy fats like coconut oil, egg yolks, butter, cream, avocados, nuts, animal fats and olive oil to your diet may also help reduce cravings. Again, if your digestion isn’t adequate your body may have a hard time processing the additional fat and you might start gaining weight. So, we are back to digestion again and understanding your biological identity. Stop eating nonfoods that are heavily processed and laden with MSG or artificial sweeteners. Yes, even the 100 calorie Snack Packs! Food scientists have figured out how to add chemicals to our foods which makes them more addicting than street drugs. By eliminating nonfoods in your diet those chemicals won’t be in your body anymore to cause the cravings. Remember, not everybody responds the same. One size does not fit all when it comes to health so you need to get a better idea of your body chemistry and learn how to run simple tests at home that will help you understand how your body is functioning. I perform these tests in my office or you can take a free online course about digestion at http://www.kickitinthenuts.com/courses. So, as you can see sometimes willpower just isn’t enough when it comes to weight loss. Cravings can derail your weight loss attempts causing you to eat that pint of Haagen Dazs ice cream or that bag of potato chips, or the box of doughnuts. That is why it is important to understand how your body works and how to work your body. |
